I personally used this with a 10gb nic and lsi hba and ran Truenas core 12. If you know these boards you know one problem they have is you have to press f1 at boot. However I figured out if you connected the hp z420 usb and power button (which is included) and a couple fans you can avoid pressing f1 which is great cause you can turn on boot up after power loss in bios and have a true server. In the pictures I showed how I spliced a data wire on a fan to 2 fan headers on the motherboard. This works great if you don’t have a lot of fans. To use the extension you will have to connect each pin individually and then bend the extension. But this is only necessary if it’s a tight fit in your case.
